Genus. in 1903. In 1919-1921. served in the Red Army, took part in the battles against Denikin and the Polish campaign. In 1923 he joined the RCP(b).    In the 1920s worked in the Provincial Committee of the Komsomol in Odessa, at the Institute of the Red Professorship in Moscow.   In 1932-1935. – Head of the Department of Philosophy at Saratov University. 07.02. 1935 expelled from the party and arrested in the “Lominadze group case.” Released in July 1938.   In 1938-1941. Associate Professor at the Voronezh Pedagogical Institute. In 1941 he returned to work at Saratov University as an assistant professor. After 1945, he taught at Saratov University, but soon returned to Leningrad State University. In 1947 he was expelled from Leningrad State University. Arrested and sent to   With. Tyukhtet   Krasnoyarsk Territory, where he worked as a night watchman. In 1953 he was amnestied, returned to teaching in Borisoglebsk, and subsequently moved to Leningrad. Admitted to the Writers' Union. He began working under the pseudonym Vladimir Dneprov. Published in periodicals “Questions of Literature”, “New World”, “Foreign Literature”.
