In 1958, he was expelled from the CPSU “for a gross violation of socialist legality, as a result of which workers of Leningrad higher educational institutions were sentenced to capital punishment and long terms of imprisonment.” In 1959, he was stripped of his military rank and government awards “as having discredited himself during his work in the authorities.” Retired since June 1961. Died in Moscow.
