Born 05/01/1902 in St. Petersburg; Jew; higher education. Doctor of Philology, Professor and Head of the Department of Russian Literature at Leningrad State University. Lived in Leningrad, 13th line VO, no. 56. Dismissed in May 1949 “for pushing through cosmopolitan attitudes in scientific and pedagogical work.” Arrested 07/25/1949. He died on 04/02/1950 from a heart attack in the Moscow Lefortovo prison. Rehabilitated by a resolution of the USSR Prosecutor's Office dated May 5, 1965.
07/26/2015 at house No. 56 on the 13th line of Vasilyevsky Island in memory of G.A. Gukovsky. A personal memorial sign was installed as part of the "Last Address" project.
