Born in 1921 in Hanover, Germany, to a family of emigrants. In 1925, his parents returned to Russia, to Leningrad. In 1935, his father was arrested and sentenced to administrative exile with his family. They lived in Kursk. In 1939, he was drafted into the army by the Kursk GVK . He went missing in December 1941.
