Stankevich Nikolay Nikolaevich
Born in 1925 in Berlin to a family of emigrants, the same year the family returned to Russia, to Leningrad. In 1935, his father was sentenced to administrative exile with his family. They lived in Kursk, and from 1939 in Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkarian ASSR. Arrested in 1943. Sentenced by the Military Tribunal of the NKVD troops of the Stavropol Territory "for evading mobilization" to 10 years' imprisonment. Imprisoned in the NKVD camp in Nizhny Tagil, Sverdlovsk Region. Released under amnesty in August 1945. Rehabilitated. Graduated from the Music College at the Leningrad Conservatory and the Conservatory. Worked at the Leningrad Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin, in the Philharmonic, and in the Conservatory. He retired in 1986 and continued to teach singing until 2005. In 2008, he published a collection of poems, “Revelations: Poems from Different Years.”
