023: Kurdyukov. Kurdyukov Vladimir Nikolaevich (1882-1941). Personal file of a prisoner

1938 - 1941
Annotation:

Kurdyukov Vladimir Nikolaevich was born in 1882. A native and resident of the village of Akatovo, Reutovsky District, Moscow Region, Russian, citizen of the USSR, no pension, secondary education, from a peasant family.

He received his first sentence on December 5, 1937 : he was convicted by a troika of the NKVD Directorate for Moscow Oblast of counter-revolutionary agitation and sentenced to 10 years in prison. At the time of his arrest, Kurdyukov was working as a supplier for a fur farm in the village of Akatovo, Moscow Oblast.

In 1940, Kurdyukov served his sentence in Tomsk Penal Colony No. 6.

The case of prisoner Kurdyukov is dated August 7, 1940 , when he was arrested and placed in the DPDZ. The arrest warrant, dated August 14, 1940 , states that prisoner Kurdyukov "is suspected of crimes under Article 58, paragraph 10, part 1 of the Criminal Code and Article 58, paragraph 11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR and ... conducts counterrevolutionary propaganda among prisoners."

On September 21, 1940, Kurdyukov arrived at Prison No. 3 in Tomsk.

The prison record lists the prisoner's appearance as above average height, gray hair, brown eyes, and no other distinguishing features. The file does not contain the prisoner's personal file, only a few pages: a fingerprint sheet and a medical section listing his medical conditions: "Absence of masticatory apparatus; chronic colitis; dilation of the spermatic cord..." and heart problems.

On October 7, 1940, Kurdyukov's case (investigative case No. 430) was transferred to the Prosecutor of the Corrective Labor Camp of the NKVD Directorate for the Novosibirsk Region. The investigation file listed six defendants.

LAPSHINOV Mikhail Grigorievich, born in 1889, native of the village of Starkovo (village of Starikovo. - E.B. ) in the Leningrad region, from the workers, Russian, illiterate, in 1937 he was convicted by the people's court under Article 74, Part 2 of the Criminal Code to a term of ?? years of imprisonment.

4. BARANOV (?) Fyodor Vasilyevich, born in 1884, native of the village of ???fanovo, Shilkinsky district, Transbaikal region, from a peasant family. In the past, a clergyman, in 1930 he was sentenced under Article 58-10 to a term of 3 years, the sentence was served. In 1938 he was sentenced under Article ?? of the Criminal Code to a term of five years' imprisonment.

5. ILYIN (?) Nikita Vasilyevich, born in 1879, native of the village of Aleksandrovka (?) in the Moscow region, from a peasant family, literate, served in the police as a policeman before the revolution, in 1937 he was convicted by the NKVD Troika under Article 58, paragraph 10, part 1 of the Criminal Code to a term of five years' imprisonment.

All defendants are serving their sentences in Tomsk Correctional Labor Colony No. 6.

[inaudible] The crime provided for in Articles 58 P 10, Part 1 and 58 P 11 of the Criminal Code.

[inaudible] The court established the following after the preliminary and judicial investigation:

The defendants—DOSTOVALOV, KURDYUKOV, LAPSHINOV, and BARANOV—while serving their sentences in Correctional Labor Colony No. 6, were used to work in a lumber drying facility in 1940. They maintained constant contact with one another through their work, and, being hostile to the socialist state, repeatedly engaged in group newspaper readings in 1940 in the presence of other prisoners, where they discussed and interpreted key Soviet press reports in a counterrevolutionary spirit. For example:

In February 1940, the defendant Dostovalov, with the participation of the defendants Lapshinov and Kurdyukov, spread counter-revolutionary slander against the Soviet Union on the issue of military actions on the Finnish front, expressing defeatist (?) sentiments [in] praise of the capitalist countries.

In January 1940, the defendant Lapshinov (?), in the presence of Dostovalov and witness ???, conducted counterrevolutionary conversations, spread counterrevolutionary slander against the leaders of the Party and Government, the workers of the Soviet Union, while praising the enemies of the people.

In March 1941 (apparently a typo, should have been 1940. - E.B. ) DOSTOVALOV, KURDYUKOV and LAPSHINOV expressed defeatist views on the events in the West.

In May 1940, the defendants DOSTOVALOV and LAPSHINOV repeated their statements of defeatist sentiment towards the USSR in favor of capitalist countries.

In June 1940, the defendant LAPSHINOV, with the participation of KURDYUKOV and BARANOV, in the presence of the witness IVANEV (?), spread counter-revolutionary slander against the USSR regarding the events in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

In April 1940, defendants Dostovalov and Lapshinov, in the presence of Baranov and witness Ivanev, spread counterrevolutionary slander against the Soviet press and Stalin's Constitution. At the same time, they praised the enemies of the people.

Furthermore, in the summer of 1940, in the presence of witnesses KABAKOV (?), GORSHKOV (?), and ???YAEV, the defendants KURDYUKOV and ILYIN conducted counterrevolutionary conversations and spread counterrevolutionary slander against the USSR. The court finds that the repeated group meetings of the defendants DOSTOVALOV, KURDYUKOV, LAPSHINOV, and BARANOV, at which they discussed in a counterrevolutionary spirit issues of foreign and domestic policy pursued by the Soviet Government, are not only confirmed by witness testimony, but were also acknowledged by the defendants during confrontations during the preliminary investigation, as well as by the written explanations of KUZNETSOV /see §§ 53 and 55/.

That is, they committed a crime under Article 58, paragraph 10, part 1 of the Criminal Code, and therefore, guided by Articles 219 and 320 of the Criminal Procedure Code

SENTENCED:

DOSTOVALOV Evstafy Ivanovich, KURDYUKOV Vladimir Nikolaevich, LAPSHINOV Mikhail Grigorievich, BARANOV Fedor Vasilyevich, on the basis of Art.
