Genus. in 1948. In 1966 he graduated from school with a mathematical bias and entered the physics department of Yerevan University. In 1969, he received a Komsomol reprimand and was expelled from the university for “demagogic speeches”; a year later he was reinstated. In 1971, he graduated from the university with a recommendation for graduate school, but entered the Theological Seminary. He graduated in 1973 with honors, received the rank of deacon, but did not serve long (according to some information, he came into conflict with the church hierarchs). He worked for three years as a physicist at the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory, then there were difficulties with work: in 1977 he got a job in Yerevan as an engineer at SKB, at a design institute - after a short time he was fired “due to staff reduction.” The last position before the arrest was Art. engineer at the Armagricultural Technology Computer Center. Arrested on December 22, 1977. Sentenced by the Supreme Court of the Armenian SSR on December 1, 1978 under Article 65 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Armenian SSR to 5 years of a penal colony and 2 years of exile. He served his sentence in Dubravlaga and Chistopol prison, and exile in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
