Deputy of the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian SSR (1938-1967), Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian SSR (1953-1959). Member of the USSR Supreme Council of the 2nd–5th convocations (1946–1962). Minister (People's Commissar) of Education of the Ukrainian SSR (1943-1948). Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (06/29/1929), director of the Institute of Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. Corresponding member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (1947). He died on September 16, 1967 in Kyiv.
