Pashkov Arkady Borisovich
Scientist-chemist, specialist in ion exchangers
Born 30.06.1908 in Moscow; Russian; no name; higher technical education - in 1930 he graduated from the chemical engineering department of the Ural Polytechnic Institute in Sverdlovsk. In 1930-1938 he worked at the Berezniki Chemical Plant (Berezniki, Perm Region): from 1935 - senior engineer of the production and technical department (PKhO), from 1939 - head of the PKhO and deputy chief engineer of the plant. From 1940 - chief engineer and deputy director of the soda plant (one of the divisions of the BKhK). Arrested on 20.08.1942 (according to other sources, on 20.02.1942) by the Berezniki City NKVD. Under investigation, he was held in the prison of the city of Molotov, and was tortured. Sentenced on 19.03.1943 under Art. 58-7, 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR ("anti-Soviet activity", "sabotage") to 15 years in a labor camp . In 1943-1944 he was in the Perm general regime camp at the acid plant, worked as a foreman. Through the transit prisons of Gorky, Kirov, Sverdlovsk, Kotlas, Ukhta he was transferred to the Inta labor camp (p/o Inta, p/o 388/13, Kozhvinsky district of the Komi ASSR). In the camp he worked as a plumber. In 1947 he was sent to OKB-4 GSNI-42 (the leading institute of the chemical industry for the production of chemical weapons and their storage; p/o No. 702, Moscow). In 1951 he was sent to the Experimental Plant of Synthetic Rubber Monomers in Yaroslavl, returned to Moscow. In 1951-1952 he participated in the development of ion exchangers. Due to the closure of OKB-4 in the summer of 1953 he was transferred to the Krasnopresnenskaya transit prison. From there he was sent to Nizhny Tagil. He was located at one of the camp points within the city. He worked in the OKB at the Nizhny Tagil Plastics Plant on the development of industrial production of ion exchangers. At the end of 1954 he was transferred to OLP No. 1 of one of the Gulag divisions (P.O. Box 349/51). On 11.12.1954 the case was reviewed and closed, rehabilitated. He was released on 05.01.1955 (according to other sources, on 06.01.1955). He moved to Moscow, worked at the Scientific Research Institute of Plastics. Candidate of Technical Sciences (1962). Since 1969 - Deputy Director for Research at NIIPM. Author and co-author of scientific works in the field of synthesis of ion-exchange materials. Editor-in-chief of the collection "Plastic Masses". Died 05.02.1995 in Moscow. Buried at Vagankovskoye Cemetery.
