Kravchenko Valentin Alexandrovich
Head of the Special Technical Bureau (OTB) under the People's Commissar of Internal Affairs of the USSR, Major General (1945)
Born in 1906 in Kryukov, Poltava Governorate; Ukrainian; member of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) since 1925; higher education - Odessa Institute of Communications Engineers (1933). Postgraduate student and dean of the radio department of the Odessa Institute of Communications in 1933-1935, adjunct at the V.N. Podbelsky Communications Academy from 1935-1937. In October 1937, he was seconded to the NKVD of the USSR, dealt with special communications issues, head of the 1st department of the Central Laboratory of the 2nd special department of the NKVD of the USSR.
From November 1939 - Chief of the Special Technical Bureau of the NKVD of the USSR, from July 1941 - Chief of the 4th Special Department of the NKVD of the USSR, from January 1946 - Deputy Chief of the 9th Directorate of the NKVD of the USSR (concurrently), from January 1948 - Chief of the Control and Special Assignments Group under the Minister of Internal Affairs of the USSR, from May 1949 - Chief of the 4th Special Department of the MVD of the USSR, from March to July 1953 - Chief of the 5th Special Department of the MVD of the USSR, from November 1953 - Chief of Construction Directorate No. 304 of the MVD of the USSR in the city of Miass, Chelyabinsk Region.
