Pines Dmitry Mikhailovich
Literary historian, bibliographer; Left Socialist Revolutionary; friend of Andrei Bely since the time of the Free Philosophical Association
Born February 13, 1891 in Moscow, into the family of a 1st guild merchant and manufacturer; higher education - graduated from the law faculty of the Psychoneurological Institute in Petrograd in 1917. Literary historian, bibliographer. Left Socialist-Revolutionary. In 1920 and 1929 he was arrested by the Cheka-OGPU for counterrevolutionary activities. In 1933 he lived in Leningrad, 4th Sovetskaya St., bldg. 8, apt. 11. Arrested. Sentenced by the OS at the OGPU Collegium on June 28, 1933 under Art. 58-10, 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR for "creation of the Leningrad Regional Ideological and Organizational Socialist-Revolutionary Center" to 2 years in a political isolator. In prison - in the Verkhneuralsk political isolator. In 1935 he was exiled to the Northern Territory for 2 years. In exile he lived in Arkhangelsk, K. Marksa St., Bldg. 28, Apt. 2, and did not work. He was arrested on 06.02.1937 and accused of participating in a counter-revolutionary Socialist Revolutionary terrorist organization. He was sentenced to capital punishment on 23.10.1937 by a troika of the NKVD Directorate for the Arkhangelsk Region. He was executed on 27.10.1937. He is buried in Arkhangelsk. He was rehabilitated according to the 1937 case by the Military Tribunal of the White Sea Military District on 29.04.1956.
On July 2, 2017, a personal memorial sign was installed at house No. 8 on 4th Sovetskaya Street in St. Petersburg in memory of D.M. Pines as part of the Last Address project.
