Born in 1905 in Kyiv; Jewish; secondary medical education; member of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). Writer, memoirist; wife of G. Ya. Sokolnikov, convicted in the "right-Trotskyist bloc" trial. In 1936, she was arrested after her husband, in June 1937 she was exiled to Semipalatinsk together with her mother and two-year-old daughter, there she was arrested again in December and in 1939 sentenced to 8 years in prison as "the wife of an enemy of the people". In 1945 she was released and settled in Dzhambul, where she worked as a paramedic. On 28 May 1949 she was arrested again. Sentenced on 12.11.1949 by the Special Conference of the USSR MGB 1 to 10 years' imprisonment on charges of counterrevolutionary agitation and participation in a counterrevolutionary organization (Articles 58-10, Part 1, 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR). On 14.08.1955, by decision of the central commission, she was released from prison and sent into exile to Dzhambul. Soon released from exile. In 1956, she was fully rehabilitated and reinstated in the party; she resumed her writing activities.
