Genus. in 1927 in Kharkov. After graduating from the Kharkov Theater Institute, he worked in one of the Kharkov theaters, then as a rural teacher. In the mid-1950s. moved to Kyiv. He taught at a university, then went into literature and journalism. In 1956-1957 headed the department of journalism and fiction in the newspaper “Literary Ukraine”. Admitted to the Union of Writers of Ukraine. He worked as editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian studio of newsreel-documentary films (Kyiv studio of Ukrkinokhroniki). Was admitted to the Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine. In 1966 for participating in the filming of a mourning meeting not sanctioned by the Soviet authorities on the day of the 25th anniversary of the tragedy at Babi Yar, at which V. Nekrasov and V. Voinovich spoke, he was transferred from studio management to ordinary directors. Having learned about the fate of his mother, he became interested in the materials of the pre-war trials of Ukrainian nationalists, wrote a study “My Mom, Mom... or Cartridges for Execution,” which quickly spread in anti-Soviet circles. In 1974, he was expelled from the CPSU and creative unions, which caused a nervous breakdown and illness that led to retinal thrombosis. Received the second group of disability. Before his arrest on September 22, 1977, he was published in the dissident press, transmitted texts abroad for publication (“Appeal to the Leader,” “Letters to J. Carter” and others), and was often mentioned in radio broadcasts of the BBC, Voice of America, etc. 10/30 .1977 went on a hunger strike and was put on forced feeding. The result of the hunger strike was paralysis. In the summer of 1978 he was transferred from the prison hospital to the city Oktyabrskaya hospital. Died on December 28, 1978. In the 1990s. posthumously reinstated in the Union of Writers and the Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine.
