Tarle Evgeniy Viktorovich
Historian, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1927)
Born in 1874 in Kiev; higher education; no name. Historian of Western Europe and Russia, Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences since 1927. Professor at Petrograd University. Lived in Leningrad. Arrested on 28.01.1930 in the " Academician Platonov case " . Sentenced by the Kogpu on 08.08.1931 to exile in Alma-Ata for 5 years. Taught history at the University of Alma-Ata. In 1937, the conviction was expunged, the title of academician was returned. Since 1937 - employee of the Leningrad branch of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences. During the war, he taught at the History and Philology Faculty of Kazan University. Since 1944, a member of the British Academy. In 1946 he moved to Moscow, where he taught at Moscow State University and the Institute of International Relations. He died in 1955.
