Genus. December 1, 1930 in the village. Bratkivtsi, Tysmenytsia district, Ivano-Frankivsk region. Ukrainian SSR. Soviet and Ukrainian writer, journalist, prose writer, magazine editor. In 1967 he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Lviv University and worked in the local press. Since 1968, he worked as editor of the literary and artistic magazine "Zhovten", now "Dzvin" ("Bell") in Lviv, and contributed to the entry of many young writers into literature. Conducted significant social activities. Elected People's Deputy of the USSR. In 1993, for the work “Jerusalem on the Mountains” he was awarded the National Taras Shevchenko Prize of Ukraine. He died on March 14, 2001 in Lvov. He was buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.
