Popov Vladimir Zakharovich
Serviceman
Born 21.01.1883 in Yelets, Oryol Province; education - Mikhailovskoye Artillery School (1904). Participant in the Russo-Japanese War, captain. From 1913 - teacher at the Mikhailovskoye Artillery School (from 1918 - 1st Soviet Artillery Command Courses). Arrested on 11.07.1918 by the Extraordinary Commission under the Petrograd Soviet of Workers' and Soldiers' Deputies for Combating Counterrevolution and Speculation in connection with the case of a conspiracy in the Mikhailovskoye Artillery School. By the decree of the PetroChK dated 19.08.1918, as a former officer, he was transferred to the status of internee. In 1931 - shooting instructor at AKUKSA (Artillery advanced training courses for command personnel). Lived in Leningrad (Nizhegorodskaya St., Bldg. 16, Apt. 4). Arrested on January 23, 1931. By the Resolution of the Visiting Session of the KOGPU dated April 26, 1931, under Article 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR, he was exiled to the West Siberian Territory for 3 years. After his release, he returned to Leningrad. He was in charge of the laboratory of the Leningrad Mining Institute. Lived at the address: Kirovsky Prospekt, Bldg. 64, Apt. 142. Arrested on March 16, 1935. By the Resolution of the OS under the NKVD of the USSR dated March 20, 1935, as a “socially dangerous element”, he was deprived of the right to reside in 15 locations.
