Bishop of the Orthodox Russian Church, Bishop of Gdov. One of the leaders and ideologists of the "Josephite movement"; after the arrest of Metropolitan Joseph, he actually led the Josephite movement in Leningrad, having acquired the rank of archbishop. Arrested on 11/29/1929 on charges of "counter-revolutionary agitation aimed at undermining and overthrowing Soviet power." Sentenced on 08/09/1930 under articles 58-10 and 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 10 years in prison. Sent to the Yaroslavl political isolator. In the autumn of 1930, he was brought to the investigation in the case of the All-Union Center of the TOC. 09/03/1931 sentenced under the same articles of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to death with a replacement for 10 years in prison. He was imprisoned in solitary confinement in the Yaroslavl political isolator, where he died.
