He graduated from the ship mechanics department of the Leningrad Institute of Water Transport Engineers. He worked as a ship mechanic. At the beginning of the war, he found himself on one of the Soviet ships moored in German ports. The ship crews were arrested and taken to a concentration camp near the village of Blankenfeld,   not far from Berlin,   where they stayed until 10/01/1942, after which they were sent to Bavaria, to the city of Weissenburg. They were held in captivity in the medieval fortress of Wülzburg, 50 kilometers from Nuremberg. In April 1945, they were liberated by the American army. On 07/09/1945, among the 180 sailors who remained alive, he returned to Leningrad. He was arrested. In 1946 or early 1947, he was transferred to OKB-172 (Leningrad, "Kresty"). His subsequent fate is unknown.
