He was taken to the internal prison of the NKVD Directorate for the Novosibirsk Region (Tomsk) and placed in cell No. 14. During a medical examination of the arrested person on November 2, 1951, doctor Pechenkina established that the arrested Yachmenev suffered from a number of illnesses, was a group 1 invalid, and “needed inpatient treatment and outside assistance. He cannot be transported.” He was interrogated by investigators from the Tomsk Region UMBG Polkovnikov and Kozhanov. On November 10, 1951, he was sent for further detention to Prison No. 1 of the Tomsk Region UMVD Directorate for inpatient treatment in a prison hospital. He was admitted to the prison hospital in serious condition with a diagnosis of "cirrhosis of the liver, with signs of ascites." He died in the prison hospital on November 21, 1951, from increasing heart failure. The official death certificate states the diagnosis of grade 3 heart failure.

The digitization of the case documents was carried out by volunteer Yulia G.

The file was discovered by chance, in the damp basement of SIZO-1, about 80 years after it was established. The file is in a deplorable state, the pages are eaten away by fungus and falling apart. The museum staff attempted to dry the documents and make copies.
