Born in 1890 in Tiflis. From April 1924 to November 1925 - commander of the troops of the Turkestan Front, led the fight against the Basmachi throughout Central Asia. Since January 1926 - commander of the troops of the Caucasian Red Banner Army. Since 1928, at the same time he was the authorized person of the People's Commissar for Military and Naval Affairs of the USSR under the Council of People's Commissars of the Trans-SFSR. In 1935, he conducted the first large-scale military maneuvers in the USSR in high mountainous regions. Since June 1937 - Commander of the Primorsky Group of Forces of the Special Red Banner Far Eastern Army. Member of the Military Council under the People's Commissar of Defense of the USSR. Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 1st convocation (1937-1938). On February 23, 1938, he was arrested and, under torture, pleaded guilty to participating in an anti-Soviet, Trotskyist and military-fascist conspiracy in the Red Army. On July 29, 1938, he was sentenced by the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR to VMN. Shot on the same day in Moscow. By the decision of the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR on April 28, 1956, he was rehabilitated.
