Genus. in 1894 in Kovno province. Member of the RSDLP(b) since 1913, candidate member of the Central Committee (1924-1930), member of the Central Committee (1930-1937). On October 3, 1937, J.V. Stalin removed Vareikis from the post of 1st Secretary of the Far Eastern Regional Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) and recalled him to Moscow. On October 9-10, 1937, he was arrested at the entrance to Moscow as one of the active participants in the counter-revolutionary right-Trotskyist organization in the Central Black Earth Region. On October 12, by the decision of the plenum of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks, Vareikis was removed from the Central Committee of the party. On July 29, 1939, he was shot by the verdict of the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR at the NKVD Kommunarka training ground. In 1956 he was rehabilitated and reinstated in the party.
