Nikiforova Marksena Mikhailovna
Genus. 10/12/1923 in Petrograd. At the beginning of July 1937, at the age of thirteen, after the arrest of her mother and stepfather, she was left with two brothers - 10 and 6 years old. In August 1937, the children and the housekeeper were evicted from the apartment to a room in a communal apartment. In September 1937, after the brothers were taken to an orphanage, she sold things and lived with Aunt Sizova Alevtina Nikolaevna. She graduated from school in 1941. During the blockade she remained in Leningrad, and in September 1941 she entered the university at the Faculty of Philology. In February 1942 the university was evacuated, from April 1942 to October 1944 she worked as a librarian in the district library. In 1943, she received a summons to be expelled from Leningrad and hid for several months. In 1942 she married Ivan Nikolaevich Nikiforov, and in 1944 gave birth to a son. She did not receive a higher education. She worked at plant No. 77 as a grinder. Since 1948 - librarian in the school library. In 1954 she gave birth to a son, was seriously ill, and did not work for several years. Since 1962 she has been an employee in the regional statistical office, then an economist. She became seriously ill, quit her job in 1973, and from 1973 to 1975 worked as a laboratory assistant at the Diesel Research Institute. After a serious illness on disability since 1975. From 1989 at Memorial, until 2001 she was a member of the Board of the Memorial Society. At Memorial she dealt mainly with the social problems of former “eastern workers”. Three sons, six grandchildren. She died on 05/08/2008.
