Genus. in 1897 in the village. Stepanchikovo, Podolsk district, Moscow province; Russian; higher education; member of the CPSU (b) in 1920–1937. In 1917–1923 served in the Red Army, in 1929 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Living Oriental Languages ​​(Leningrad Oriental Institute), where he advanced along the party line, despite the lack of published works and scientific merits; until June 20, 1930 he worked as director of the Museum of the Revolution of the Uzbek SSR in Tashkent. From 07.1930 to 04.1931 - scientific secretary and member of the directorate of the Leningrad Asian Museum (Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences). Since 1931 - researcher, and since 1935 - director of the ethnographic department of the Russian Museum, director of the State Museum of Ethnography of the Peoples of the USSR; simultaneously a teacher of the Uyghur language and scientific secretary of the Leningrad Oriental Institute. Actively participated in the “processing” of arrested RM employees, as well as in the “purges” after the murder of Kirov; compiled negative political characteristics of employees and blacklists. Arrested 07/05/1937; sentenced by the Supreme Court of the USSR Armed Forces on February 20, 1938 under Art. 58-10, 11 to VMN; executed on February 20, 1938 in Leningrad. Rehabilitated by the Military Commissariat of the USSR Armed Forces on May 23, 1957.
