Genus. in 1901; Jew; higher education: graduated from Kharkov University; in 1903–1921 member of the RSDLP(M). Arrested [in Kharkov] 09/17/1922; sentenced by the NKVD Commission on Administrative Expulsions on December 9, 1922 to deportation to Turkestan for 3 years. Thanks to his mother’s efforts, the exile was replaced by deportation to Palestine, from where he was soon able to move to Weimar Germany, where he was a member of the SPD under the pseudonym Max Werner. He wrote in the German and Russian (foreign) Social Democratic press. After the Nazis came to power, he emigrated to France, then to the USA. In the RSDLP he took positions close to the views of the majority, loyal to F.I. Dan, especially during the Second World War and in the post-war period. Died in 1951. Rehabilitated in the 1922 case by the Kharkov Region Prosecutor's Office on October 20, 1993.
