Genus. in 1856, graduated from the Academy of Arts in 1879. Architect, from 1884 he taught at the St. Petersburg Institute of Civil Engineers, from 1885 - academician of architecture, from 1892 - professor at the Imperial Academy of Arts, honorary chairman of the society of architects-artists, from 1893 - active member of the Academy. Until 1895 - editor of the magazine "3odchiy". From 1903 to 1906 - rector of the Imperial Academy of Arts. Built in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kyiv, Warsaw. From 1911 to 1917 - again rector of the Imperial Academy of Arts. 08/13/1921 arrested with his son Vladimir and daughters Nina and Ekaterina in the group case of the “Petrograd Combat Organization”. He was accused of “relations with English and Finnish intelligence” (the reason for the accusation was correspondence with his daughters, who secretly left for Vyborg). In 1922, at the request of the legal department, Pompolita was released from prison. Since 1927 - Honored Artist of the Republic. Died in Leningrad on 02/08/1928.
