Genus. 08/22/1885 in Irkutsk; Russian; non-partisan. Graduated from the Faculty of Law of St. Petersburg University (1911). In 1912–1919, justice of the peace in Irkutsk. From July to December 1919 - district prosecutor of the Irkutsk District Court, member of the Investigative Commission under the Kolchak government. In 1920, as part of the first Soviet people's court in Irkutsk; people's judge and member of the board of the provincial court. At the same time, since 1916, he conducted local history and library work. In 1921–1926 he taught at the pedagogical faculty of Irkutsk University. Chairman of the East Siberian Department of the Russian Geographical Society (1922–1927), scientific secretary of the Siberian Soviet Encyclopedia, director of the West Siberian Regional Library. In 1927–1932, scientific secretary of the editorial office of the Siberian Soviet Encyclopedia (SSE) in Novosibirsk. Before his arrest, senior researcher at the West Siberian Institute of Local History. Arrested in January 1933 in the “White Guard Conspiracy” case. Sentenced by a resolution of the OGPU Collegium dated 08/05/1933 under Art. 58-2, 11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 10 years in the labor camp (beginning of the term 01/20/1933). While imprisoned in the Solovetsky camp, he worked in a museum and library. In 1934, together with A.A. Evnevich conducted a registration survey (descriptions and sketches) of the historical and archaeological monuments of the Solovetsky archipelago (outside the Kremlin). Translated the Karelian-Finnish epic “Kalevala” into Russian. Sentenced by a resolution of the Special Troika of the UNKVD LO dated 10/09/1937 to VMN. Shot on October 27, 1937 in the Sandormokh tract (Karelian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic). Rehabilitated by the ruling of the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR dated July 29, 1958.
