Lived in the ESSR, Tartu. Arrested on December 4, 1980 for distributing anti-Soviet literature and anti-Soviet propaganda. Sentenced by the Supreme Court of the ESSR on April 24, 1981. under Article 68 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the ESSR to 2 years of a strict regime penal colony and 2 years of exile. He was held in penitentiary colony VS-389/36, Perm region, village. Kuchino (1981-1982) and in the village of Burkanya, Magadan Region - until July 1984. Released on July 15, 1984.Rehabilitated on February 19, 1990 by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the ESSR. He was a member of the Estonian Parliament in 1992-1995, and from 1988 to 1996 - a member of the Estonian National Independence Party.
