Skobov Alexander Valerievich
Dissident, political activist, publicist, teacher. Member of the underground youth organization "Left Opposition" (1978)
Born in 1957. In 1976 he was a student in the evening department of the history department of Leningrad State University, a member of the underground organization "New Left". On February 24, 1976, on the opening day of the 25th Congress of the CPSU, he took part in distributing leaflets in Leningrad from the gallery of Gostiny Dvor with calls for a new revolution. In April 1976, he created the underground student commune "Leningrad School". Then the "Left Opposition" group was organized, which was engaged in the samizdat publication of the magazine "Prospects" (editor - Skobov A.V.). He was arrested in December 1978 together with his fellow workers A.S. Tsurkov and A.I. Reznikov. He refused to emigrate from the USSR. At the Serbsky Research Institute, he was declared insane and placed in a special psychiatric hospital. After his release in 1981, he joined SMOT. Lived in Leningrad. On 12-13.12.1982, he took part in an action to paint walls with political slogans. On 20.12.1982, he was arrested. Again placed in a special psychiatric hospital, from which he was released in 1985. He took part in the activities of the "Democratic Union", for which in 1988 he was searched along with four other defendants in "Case No. 64" (charges under "ASA"). The case was closed in 1989 due to a change in the wording of the article. In the 1990s, he worked as a history teacher at School No. 90 (St. Petersburg). After the start of the First Chechen War, he was an active participant in the anti-war movement, the author of a number of anti-war appeals. In the late 2000s, he was a member of the Yabloko party, from which he left in 2010. In 2009-2011 — member of the coordinating council of the St. Petersburg branch of the Solidarity movement. In March 2010, he signed the appeal of the Russian opposition "Putin must go". Columnist for the Grani.ru portal. On March 21, 2025, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison by the 1st Western District Military Court of St. Petersburg. He was recognized as a political prisoner.
