Tochinsky Anthony Severinovich
Metallurgical engineer. Winner of the Lenin Prize (1966). Awarded the Order of Lenin (1932), the Red Banner of Labor (1935, 1958), and medals.
Born in 1888 in the town of Znamenka, Kherson province. Graduated from the St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute (1914), in 1914–1931. - engineer at the Obukhov steel and weapons factories, manager of the industry department of the Council of People's Commissars of the North Caucasus Soviet Republic, head. workshops, chief engineer at the Taganrog and Mariupol metallurgical plants. In 1931–1933 – at the Kharkov Institute of Engineering and Economics: head of the department of metallurgy. In 1933–1937 – in the Main Directorate of the Metallurgical Industry of the Supreme Economic Council of the USSR: chief engineer. Since 1937 - at the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works: chief engineer, deputy chief. During the Second World War, he led a group of researchers in the Special Design Bureau of the NKVD of the USSR. In 1955–1963 – chief specialist at the State Union Design Institute (Moscow), freelance expert of the State Planning Committee of the USSR and the RSFSR.
