Tufanov Alexander Vasilievich

Genus. in 1877 in St. Petersburg (according to other sources, in the Shenkursky district of the Arkhangelsk province); Russian; spent his childhood in Voronezh; higher education (graduated from the Teachers' Institute in St. Petersburg). Until 1917 he was repeatedly arrested and exiled. During the Civil War he lived in the North, published in publications of various political orientations. From 1922 he lived in Petrograd, worked as a proofreader; translated H. Wells and others. In 1925 he founded the “Order of Brainiacs DSO,” which included D. Kharms and A. Vvedensky. Arrested on December 10, 1931 along with other Oberiuts; during the investigation, he recognized some of his poems (the poem “Ushkuiniki”, 1927) as a coded appeal against Soviet power; sentenced by the Supreme Court of Kogpu on March 21, 1932 under Art. 58-10 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 5 years in prison; served his sentence in a camp in Temnikov. Then he lived in Orel. Died in Galich on March 15, 1943. Rehabilitated by the Leningrad City Court on January 18, 1989.
