Genus. in 1940 in Leningrad, studied at the Theater Institute, incomplete higher education. One of the publishers of the samizdat magazine "Women and Russia". She was repeatedly interrogated as an “accomplice” in the case of Leningrad artists Volkov and Rybakov, accused of writing slogans on the walls of buildings (“Freedom for political prisoners!”, etc.). She refused to participate in the investigation. On 12/21/1976 she was called again and, having been charged under Art. 190.1 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR (dissemination of deliberately false fabrications discrediting the Soviet state and social system), they were taken into custody (Voznesenskaya had two children by this time). She went on a hunger strike as a sign of protest. Convicted by the Leningrad City Court on December 29, 1976 under Art. 190-1 to 5 years of exile. For escaping from exile, Yu. Rybakova and O. Volkova were sentenced to 2 years in a camp. She served her sentence in the Irkutsk region. After her release, she continued to engage in samizdat activities and participated in the publication of the first feminist magazines in the USSR, “Woman and Russia” and “Maria.” On 05/11/1980 she emigrated to Germany from the Soviet Union. She died on February 20, 2015 in Berlin.
