Born in 1945. In 1976, for participating in independent literary actions (including in support of Solzhenitsyn), he was accused of a fabricated criminal case under Article 121 (sodomy) and sentenced to 4 years in a labor camp. In 1988, he was invited to the United States as a teacher of Russian. From 1989 to 1992, he worked in Sweden, had dual citizenship; completed postgraduate studies at the Slavic Institute of Stockholm University. He died in 2011.
