Born 24.02.1908 in Marseille (France); Jewish; higher education - graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory. In 1937 he lived in Leningrad, ul. 3-go July, bldg. 18, apt. 5. Arrested 02.06.1937 on charges of belonging to a Trotskyist organization. Sentenced by the Troika of the NKVD Directorate for the Leningrad Region on 29.11.1937 to 10 years in a labor camp. Imprisoned in Vyatlag, where he worked in the model Musical and Drama Theater of the Vyatlag NKVD. "For high production performance" the Special Security Department of the NKVD of the USSR on 20.05.1944 dismissed the case and reduced the sentence by 6 months. Released from Tagillag of the MVD on 02.01.1947. He worked as a conductor in the circuses of Voronezh (1947-1949), Dnepropetrovsk, Kuibyshev, Ivanovo (1949-1956). He was rehabilitated by the Presidium of the Leningrad City Court on 30.12.1955. He returned to Leningrad, where, at the request of D.D. Shostakovich, he received an apartment. He worked as the musical director and chief conductor of the Leningrad Circus (1956-1963). In 1964-1970, he was the conductor of the "Circus on the Stage" ensemble in Leningrad. He died in 1973.
