Svyatsky Daniil Osipovich

Definition: Russian and Soviet astronomer, meteorologist.
Reproduction methods:
Born in the city of Sevsk, now Bryansk region. He was an active participant in the Russian Society of World Studies Lovers (ROLM) and the Central Bureau of Local History. In his youth, he was imprisoned by the Tsar for calling on railway workers and peasants of the Oryol province to help the Moscow uprising in December 1905. 03/27/1930 arrested in the ROLM case. He spent a year in prison awaiting trial. Sentenced to three years and sent to the construction of the White Sea-Baltic Canal. In 1932 he was released, after 3 years he was deported to Alma-Ata, and in 1937 he was fired from his job “for impossibility of use.” He died in Aktyubinsk. Svyatsky’s greatest work, “Essays on the History of Astronomy in Ancient Rus',” was published only 20 years after the author’s death.
