Imprisoned in Sevuralag, then in Sevzheldorlag of the Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, released on parole in 1943. Since 1944, director of the Arkhangelsk Marine Research Observatory. Since 1948 - Professor of Oceanology at the Leningrad Hydrometeorological Institute. Rehabilitated in 1958
