Born in Moscow. He was imprisoned at the BBK (serving a three-year sentence), from where he escaped. Received political asylum in England. He worked in the film world, as a producer, then as the owner of a film studio. After 1945 he returned to the USSR. Arrested on the day of his arrival in Moscow. Sentenced to 10 years in labor camp on charges of espionage. He first served his sentence in Vorkuta. At the end of his term, he was sentenced to an additional 5 years of labor camp "for conducting anti-Soviet conversations in the camp." In the beginning. 1960 served time in Yavas (Dubrovlag)
