Definition: One of the leaders of the Bessarabian communist underground, since 1935 - director of the Institute of History of the Leningrad branch of the Communist Academy

Genus. in 1898 in Chisinau; Jew; from the family of a poor artisan; member of the Communist Party since 1917, was chairman of the revolutionary “Union of Students” in Chisinau. In 1918, together with units of the Red Army, he went beyond the Dniester and commanded the First Special Bessarabian Brigade. In the summer of 1919, he returned illegally to Bessarabia and led the ideological work of the Bessarabia Regional Committee of the RCP(b). He was arrested by Siguranza and convicted; he served his time in the Romanian prison of Doftan. After his release on January 29, 1922, he again became involved in underground work. To avoid arrest, by decision of the regional committee, he crossed the Dniester. In 1922 - 1930 he graduated from the Communist University. Sverdlov and graduate school at the Institute of Red Professorship. Since 1930 he worked as a manager. department of this institute, since 1935 - director of the Institute of History of the Leningrad branch of the Communist Academy. Author of about 60 scientific works, including on the history of Moldova.
Lived in Leningrad, embankment. 9 January, 18, apt. 3. Arrested on November 22, 1937. Sentenced by the Commission of the NKVD and the USSR Prosecutor's Office on January 24, 1938 on charges of espionage for Romanian intelligence to VMN. Shot on 02/04/1938. Rehabilitated posthumously on April 11, 1956 by a ruling of the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR.
