Born October 11 (24), 1910 in St. Petersburg. Russian writer. After graduating from seven-year school, he worked as a mechanic at the Baltic Shipyard and studied at the Leningrad Printing College. Since 1929 he worked as a journalist. During the Great Patriotic War, he was the commander of a reconnaissance company, participated in the battles on the Nevsky Piglet, was wounded, and had military awards. Since 1948, member of the USSR Writers' Union. In 1948 he organized the literary association “Voice of Youth” at the Vocational Education Center. He was one of the active participants in the campaign in defense of Joseph Brodsky. On May 19, 1967, he wrote an open letter to the IV All-Union Congress of the Writers' Union demanding “to call by its true name such a phenomenon as bureaucratic realism, which we bashfully and hypocritically call socialist realism.” On November 13, 1969, he addressed the secretariat of the Writers' Union with an open letter against the expulsion of Solzhenitsyn from the Writers' Union. In 1977 he was forced to emigrate to Israel. Author of several books of prose - “Mr. Gorillius” (anti-fascist pamphlet, 1941), “Stories about military friends” (1944), “10,000 km on bicycles” (1960), “Goddess Dunya and other incredible stories” (1964), “ A Book of Miracles, or Several Unlikely Stories" (1968), "Beautiful Cares of Youth" (1972), "Confession of an Irresponsible Reader" (1980), popular science books about K. E. Tsiolkovsky ("In Good Hour", 1948; " The Ballad of a Man and His Wings", 1967). His life and work are most fully reflected in the collection “The Gift” (St. Petersburg, publishing house “Petersburg—XXI Century”, 2005). Died in 1980 in Jerusalem.
