Genus. 01/22/1937 in Leningrad. After graduating from school, he worked as a milling machine operator, a laborer, and served in the army. After the army, he studied for two years at the history department of Leningrad State University, but was expelled for not attending seminars on Marxism and classes at the military department. In 1954-1956. attended the LITO Faculty of Philology of Leningrad State University, in 1956 he participated in the Conference of Young Writers of the North-West, and several of his poems were included in the final collection of the conference “First Meeting”. In 1959, he spent several months in the Kresty detention center on charges of hooliganism. He was a stagehand at the Theater Institute, a decorator and rigger at the Hermitage. In 1964 he took part in a prohibited exhibition of artist-workers of the Hermitage. The St. Petersburg art group is counting down from this exhibition. He was published in samizdat, in 1960 in Alexander Ginzburg’s magazine “Syntax”, later in the Leningrad magazines “Clocks”, “Obvodny Kanal”, “Mitin Magazine”, in the Yeisk magazine “Transponance”. He was a member of the poetic “philological school.” The first book of poetry was published in the USA in 1978. Three books of poetry and a book of prose “If God Sends Me Readers” (2000) were published in Russia, for which the author was awarded the Sergei Dovlatov Prize. He wrote texts for children's television programs, musical verses, and worked in the dubbing group at Lenfilm. Died on April 14, 2007 in St. Petersburg.
