Born on June 15, 1937 in Leningrad. He studied at the famous secondary school No. 222 (f. Petrishule). Graduated from the Department of Journalism, Faculty of Philology, Leningrad State University. In 1962-1975. worked as an editor in the children's magazine "Koster", wrote plays for the puppet theater, and poems for children. Took the pseudonym “Losev”; after emigrating to the USA, he made the former pseudonym his passport name. He emigrated from the USSR to the USA in February 1976. In the USA he worked as a typesetter and proofreader at the Ardis publishing house, completed graduate school at the University of Michigan and since 1979 taught Russian literature at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. Died 05/06/2009 in the USA.
