Gnedin (Gelfand) Evgeny Alexandrovich
Genus. in 1898 in Dresden; incomplete higher education: studied at the medical faculty of the Novorossiysk University (1916-1919) and at the electro-mechanical faculty of the Petrograd Polytechnic Institute (1920-1922); member of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks since 1931. In 1922-1930 he worked in the People's Commissariat for Foreign Affairs, including head of the trade policy subdepartment and senior referent for Germany. In 1927-1935 - deputy head of the foreign department of the Izvestia of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR. From February 1935 to June 1937 - First Secretary of the USSR Embassy in Berlin. From June 1937 to May 1939 - head of the press department of the People's Commissariat of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, censored the messages of foreign correspondents at the infamous Moscow trials. From June 1937 to May 1939 - head. press department of the People's Commissariat for Foreign Affairs of the USSR. Arrested 05/11/1939. He was kept in the Sukhanovskaya prison for more than a year. Sentenced by the Supreme Commissariat of the Armed Forces of the USSR on 07/09/1941 under Art. 17-58-6 hours 1, 8, 11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR for 10 years of labor camp. Rehabilitated in October 1955.
