Genus. in 1892 in Yaroslavl. After graduating from St. Petersburg University in 1915, he was sent for an internship to Japan, where he remained until 1929. He studied Japanese dialects, life and folklore of the separated Japanese provinces, and is still considered “one of the fathers of Japanese ethnography.” In 1929 he returned to his homeland, after 5 years his wife, a Japanese woman, and daughter were allowed to enter the USSR. 10/04/1937 arrested N.A. Nevsky, a few days later - his wife. Accused of espionage for Japan, on November 19, 1937, he was sentenced by the Military Tribunal of the Belarusian Military District to military service and executed on November 24, 1937. Rehabilitated by the Military Tribunal of the Belarusian Military District on November 14, 1957. In 1960, a two-volume volume of Nevsky’s works devoted to the language and culture of the Tanguts was published, after which N.A. Nevsky was posthumously awarded the title of Lenin Prize laureate.
