On 10/12/1981 in Mtskheta, about 2 thousand people gathered near the temple, protesting against the reduction of Georgian language lessons in educational institutions of Georgia. In connection with this demonstration, Zviad Gamsakhurdia, Tamriko Chkheidze and several other people were detained, but they were released on the same day, but an investigation was launched into the case of “hooliganism.” In the second half of January 1982, the trial of Tamriko and her friends Marine Koshkadze, Nana Kakakbadze, Marine Bagdavadze and Irakli Tsereteli took place. Before the trial, they were all at large. The court found them guilty and sentenced them to 5 years in prison each, but conditionally, i.e., leaving them free until the first violation of the law.
Arrested on June 15, 1983 for distributing leaflets in Tbilisi calling for a boycott of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Georgian-Russian treaty of 1783, according to which Georgia surrendered to the protection of Russia.
