On 10/12/1981, about 2 thousand people gathered near the temple in Mtskheta, protesting against the reduction of Georgian language lessons in Georgian educational institutions. In connection with this demonstration, Zviad Gamsakhurdia, Tamriko Chkheidze and several other people were detained, but they were released on the same day, but an investigation into the case of "hooliganism" was launched. In the second half of January 1982, Tamriko and her friends Marine Koshkadze, Nana Kakakbadze, Marine Baghdavadze and Irakli Tsereteli were tried. Before the trial, they were all at large. The court found them guilty and sentenced them to 5 years in prison each, but conditionally, that is, leaving them at large until the first violation of the law.
Arrested on 07/11/1983 in Tbilisi for participating in a demonstration demanding the release of previously arrested Georgian student activists.
