Gekht Semyon Grigorievich
Writer, journalist
Born in 1900(?) in Odessa. He studied at the second state Jewish school. He worked as a folder in a printing house, a typesetter, a guard in the vegetable gardens, and a watchman. He published his works in Odessa newspapers and magazines. In April 1923 he left for Moscow. He was engaged in literary work, his essays were published in the magazine “Ogonyok” and in the newspaper “Gudok”, and several books were published. During the Great Patriotic War he was a war journalist. Arrested on 22.05.1944. Sentenced on 21.04.1945 under Article 58-10, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 8 years of imprisonment with deprivation of rights. In custody at the Beskudnikovsky Corrective Labor Camp near Moscow. Rehabilitated in 1956. Died on 13.06.1963. He was buried at the Vvedenskoye Cemetery in Moscow.
