Bondarin Sergey Alexandrovich
Writer, war correspondent
Born in 1903 in Odessa; studied at the Panchenko Gymnasium. In 1920 he began his writing career, publishing poems in Odessa magazines and newspapers. In 1929 he graduated from the law department of the Odessa Institute of National Economy.
In 1930, his first book was published. He moved to Moscow. In 1937, he became a member of the Writers' Union of the USSR. From June 1941 to February 1944, he was
War correspondent in the Black Sea Fleet. Arrested on 03.03.1944. Sentenced on 21.04.1945 by the Special Specialized Department of the NKGB of the USSR under Art. 58-10, Part 2, 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR "for participating in an anti-Soviet group engaged in anti-Soviet agitation during the war" to 8 years in a labor camp and 2 years in exile. Eported to Siblag. Imprisoned in the Mariinsky camps, in the Taishet camp point. Released from the camp on 03.03.1952. In exile is in the village of Kapkary, Dolgomostovsky District, Krasnoyarsk Territory. He worked as a guard at the Zavadovsky chemical forestry enterprise. Since 1953, he has been writing his memoirs about the camp and exile, "Kapkarinsky Notes". Released from special settlement in 1954. Rehabilitated in 1957. Engaged in translations, wrote books, and finalized camp memoirs. Died on September 25, 1978.
