Rakovsky Christian Georgievich
Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the Ukrainian SSR (1919-1923), Head of the Department of the People's Commissariat of Health of the RSFSR (since 1934)
Born in 1873 in Kotel, Bulgaria; Bulgarian; higher medical education; member of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) (reinstated in 1935). Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the Ukrainian SSR in 1919-1923, from 1923 - USSR Plenipotentiary Representative in England, in 1925-1927 - in France, and simultaneously, from 1923, Deputy People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs of the USSR. In 1928-1934 he was in exile in Astrakhan and Barnaul. From 1934 - Head of the Department of the People's Commissariat of Health of the RSFSR. Member of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee and the Central Executive Committee of the USSR. Lived in Moscow. Arrested on 26(27)01.1937. Sentenced by the Military Commission of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on 13.03.1938 under Art. 58-1a, 2, 7, 8, 9, 11 to 20 years in a labor camp and 5 years of disenfranchisement. Imprisoned in Oryol prison. Sentenced by the Supreme Court of the USSR (in absentia, according to the resolution of the State Defense Committee of September 6, 1941, signed by Stalin) on September 8, 1941 under Article 58-10, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to capital punishment. Executed on September 11, 1941 in Oryol.
