Genus. in 1882 in Nerubaisky farmsteads, now the village. Nerubayskoye, Belyaevsky district, Odessa region, in a peasant family. He entered the Novorossiysk University in Odessa in the history department of the history and philology faculty, and later transferred to the law faculty. He took an active part in revolutionary events as a member of student communities, RUP (1903), USDRP (1906-1918). After graduating from Novorossiysk University and the Military Law Academy in St. Petersburg, he remained at Novorossiysk University. During the First World War he served in the military with the rank of staff captain. 1918 - private associate professor at the university in Kyiv and Kamenets-Podolsky, in 1919 - associate professor at Odessa University, in 1920-1929. - Professor at the Institute of Public Education in Odessa, head of the sociological and historical section of the Odessa Scientific. society and head of the Odessa branch of N.-D. Department of History of Ukraine in Kharkov (since 1926); Academician of VUAN (since 1929).Arrested at the end of 1929 in the case of "Spilki vyzvolennya Ukrainy" ("Union for the Liberation of Ukraine"), sentenced by the Supreme Court of the Ukrainian SSR on April 18, 1930 to 6 years in prison with disqualification for 2 years. He served time in the Yaroslavl political prison and in Solovki, in the Savateevsky prison. After his release in January 1936, he worked in Kirovsk, Leningrad (now Murmansk) region in the Apatit trust as an accountant.
Rehabilitated by the resolution of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Ukrainian SSR dated August 11, 1989.
